Walking through the doors of The Myst Dong Khoi, you enter a timeless space. One where ylang ylang-scented air cools your skin and genuine smiles make you feel at home. Where hushed modern spaces and singular design harbour relics of Saigon’s storied past – stained-glass details, wrought iron roses and cherished local artefacts. Day 2
Experience Ho Chi Minh City by TuktukAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh city and start exploring the city by tuk tuk. We will use one of old means of transportation, Xe Lam (Lam means Lambretta from Italia); this car was used popularly in southern Vietnam since 1960s.
In the Morning….
The Reunification Palace: One of the most important buildings in the city, it was there, on April 30th, 1975, that the Vietnamese-American War officially ended. Tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time, the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam.
War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, the War Remnants Museum is a poignant display of war’s futility. Some of the black-and-white photography in the ‘Requiem’ exhibit is particularly touching, dedicated to both foreign and Vietnamese journalists and photographers who perished during the conflict. The courtyard outside contains the spoils of war: rusting jets, tanks and cannons captured from the American military.
Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883, these two buildings are some of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture. Remarkably, every stone used in the creation of the cathedral was shipped from France to Vietnam. Her two 40-meter towers, topped with iron spires, dominate the city’s skyline. Just across a park from the cathedral sits the beautiful General Post Office. With its huge clock and cavernous interior, it has the air of an old-fashioned railroad station.
In the afternoon…
Giac Lam Pagoda: Ho Chi Minh City’s oldest pagoda, dating back to 1744, this is one of the finest in Vietnam. Inside, 98 pillars, 113 statues and a myriad of mini-Buddhas vie for your attention. Not to be missed is the amazing Tree of Wandering Souls, where people pray for their sick relatives by writing the names of their loved ones on slips of paper and then attaching them to the tree.
Cholon & Thien Hau Pagoda: Cholon actually means Big Market – a claim that is well justified as Vietnam’s largest market, the Binh Tay is situated here. The district is home to the city’s 400,000 ethnic Chinese and has many beautiful temples and pagodas.
Ben Thanh Market: This bustling market is very popular with tourists, primarily due to its central location. It has a wide selection of goods ranging from fake Nike shoes to beautiful silk Ao Dais.
The tour ends around 6pm with a return to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh city
Day 3
Exploring Cu Chi tunnels by cruise and cycleAfter breakfast your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel start one hour cruising and 25km cycling.
The Cu Chi region was pivotal in the defeat of the US during the Vietnamese war. Almost completely devastated by continual bombing and napalming overland, many Viet Cong still survived by digging and hiding in underground tunnel networks. On this one-day tour, we’ll visit the vast underground network of tunnels and enjoy some cruising and biking along the way.
In the morning, we’ll retrieve you from your hotel and head to the Saigon river pier. There, we’ll enjoy some snacks and cruising on the green banks and quiet waterways to the Cuchi tunnels. The boat will go around Thanh Da Islet and will cross Binh Quoi Village area, both of which are great for sightseeing and photos along the way. We’ll stop to admire and tour the Cuchi Tunnels before hopping on our bikes for a ride along the Vietnamese countryside. We’ll ride past rubber plantations and rice fields, stopping occasionally to see locals at work making either rice paper or rice wine in traditional settings. Lunch in a local restaurant.
In the late afternoon, return to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh.
Enjoy your leisure time in Ho Chi Minh or exploring Sai Gon (Ho Chi Minh) after dark.

Day 10
Unseen Angkor Bike TripAt 5:00am you are collected from your hotel with bikes and a support vehicle. Arriving at Phnom Bakheng, a Hindu temple residing on a holy hill. The edifice is 37m in height and within minutes of climbing it you will be greeted with the stunning vista of sunrise over Angkor Wat-as well as a panoramic view of Siem Reap, the Western Reservoir and traditional rice paddies that lay beyond. Mounting bikes, the trek continues to the south gate of Angkor, the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire which once supported a population of over 1 million within its gargantuan walled confines. The southern entrance, which can get very crowded later in the day, is flanked by two sets of statues, recreating a scene from the legend of the ’Churning of the Sea of Milk’.
After Angkor Thom our late morning tour resumes with a visit to Angkor Wat itself. The iconic temple was constructed by King Suryavarman II in the 12th century and is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. Angkor Wat is the symbol of Meru Mountain, homage to the gods, and its ramparts symbolize the mountain while its moat represents the ocean that surrounds Mount Meru. Angkor Wat’s main function was to be the funeral temple and shrine that would entomb the king’s ashes after his passing.
After a break for lunch near Angkor Wat, the tour resumes at Bayon temple, where you are greeted to the smiling visages of the divine emotions of Charity, Compassion, Sympathy and Equanimity. Next you cycle to Preah Khan, which is the largest Buddhist temple in the kingdom of Cambodia.
The day is finished at Ta Prohm, which gained fame as the site of the movie “Tomb Raider”, starring international actress Angelina Jolie. At this time of day, the temple is very romantic, because as the crowds dwindle we can hear the sweet singing of parrots that are seeking to return to their nests on the grounds. As you explore Ta Prohm, it is truly astounding how the gigantic roots of Banyan trees have been growing over the temple for more than hundred years. You will also see hundreds of pieces of sandstones that have collapsed laying on the grounds and are during certain seasons covered with beautiful green moss. The tour concludes with a return to Siem Reap and your hotel.
Day 11
Siem Reap - Kampong ThomAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Siem Reap and transfer to Kampong Thom which is nested between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, Kampong Thom takes us back to the Cambodia of a bygone era. This laid-back province, situated between more famous landmarks and modern locations, offers temples and community-based tourism for those seeking unique experiences far away from mainstream attractions.
This fascinating two-day adventure will take you to ornate shrines older and less visited than the Angkor temples and interaction with Cambodian people a world away from the tourism masses.
Within comfortable reach from either Siem Reap, or Phnom Penh, Kampong Thom is uncharted hideaway from these two major tourist magnets. The soothing, provincial feeling of this riverside town will pervade your senses as you undertake a guided tuk-tuk tour of the area's most illustrious shrines that pre-date the Angkor-era temples.
Our fascinating afternoon exploration takes in the impressive Sambor Prei Kuk Archaelogical Site. This was once part of a larger realm that contained 257 ancient structures that date back to the late 6th century.
Centred on the old city centre of Isanapura, various structures created during the prosperrous Pre-Angkorian Chenla Kingdom remain hardly untouched-which adds to a truly authentic experience. The day ends with a climb up the steps of a mountain-top pagoda to get sublime, panoramic views from 180 metres above sea level.
Check-in to your hotel in Kampong Thom
Day 12
DepartureWith the Stung Sen River immediately on our doorstep, we undertake a relaxing boat trip to get a dirfferent perspective of peaceful Kampong Thom. We then enjoy a leisurely stroll around the local market and browse ornate temples.
Your driver will meet you at your hotel in Kampong Thom and transfer to the airport for your may next destination.
