Day 1
HANOI – ARRIVALYour driver will meet you at Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport and transfer you to the hotel for check-in.
Depending on arrival time, a city tour in the afternoon will include one or more of the following sites: Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, and the Old Quarter of Hanoi.
Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi attracts tourists and locals looking to get away from the noise and frenetic pace of the city. Peaceful and quiet, the lake surrounds Ngoc Son Temple, a pagoda sitting in the center of a small island.
Ngoc Son temple attracts many visitors and was built in commemoration of the 13th-century military leader, Tran Hung Dao, who was renowned for his bravery in the battle against the Yuan Dynasty. Homage is also paid to scholar Van Xuong and Confucian master Nguyen Van Sieu. The island on which the temple is built is known as Jade Island and is accessible by the iconic Huc Bridge or Rising Sun Bridge, which is a charming scarlet-painted wooden bridge of classical Vietnamese design. The pagoda is also guarded by two towering posts, decorated with Chinese writing. The lake and temple are probably the most famous places in Hanoi city, a place to rest and enjoy the view, and it is a great place to sit back and watch the locals.

Day 2
HANOI – CITY TOURAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel and start a full-day city tour, including visits to the most remarkable site: Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (closed on Mondays, Fridays, and from October to November for maintenance). One of the most resourceful museums in Hanoi and undoubtedly in the country, the Ho Chi Minh Museum are conveniently located in the Ho Chi Minh complex.
The One-pillar pagoda or Dien Huu pagoda has one of the most special architectures in Vietnam.
The pagoda started being constructed under the Lys dynasty in 1049. The legend goes that one night in 1049, King Ly Thai Tong dreamed of the Holy Lady (Phat ba Quan Am), sitting on a lotus and leading him to a similar building. When he woke up, he was advised by the Thien Tue monk to build the pillar-based pagoda-like in his dream and top it with the lotus of the Holy lady. Every year, when it came to April 8th in the Lunar calendar, the King came to the pagoda for the Buddha bathing ceremony and afterward, released a bird. In 1105, King Ly Nhan Tong extended the pagoda and added the Linh Chieu bond. However, time has erased everything but the limited area like what we see now. Near the pagoda, there’s a bodhi tree. This is the gift from Rajendra Prasad- the Indian president to the Ho Chi Minh President. The pagoda now became one of the most meaningful symbols of Hanoi.
Army Museum (closed on Mondays, alternatively, visit Ethnology Museum).
Continue visiting the Temple of Literature, built in the 11th century as Vietnam’s first university, the Fine Arts Museum, and Quan Thanh Temple.
Enjoy the Water Puppet Show in the evening, a unique Vietnamese traditional art form.
What guide book does not tell you about the Ho Chi Minh Museum:
Opposite the Ho Chi Minh Museum is a local market, taking place in a small alley visible from the entrance to the Museum. If you want to separate yourself from the tourist crowd, head to the market. There are a lot of food options on offer, from the famous Pho and Che Vietnamese pudding to baguette and other local fares. Not only will you get a lunch deal, compared to what you would pay in the Old Quarter, but you will also have the unique chance to communicate with the “real” local.
Return to your hotel in Hanoi.

Drive to Ninh Binh, also called "the Dry Halong Bay" and row a sampan along the limestone rocks lying in rice fields, and forming a landscape similar to that in Guilin.
Ninh Binh has the oldest national park in Vietnam, Cuc Phuong National Park, located 100km from Hanoi, with a very wide range of species, both flowers, and animals. Moreover, it is one of the best places for hiking in Vietnam, granting guests fresh air and natural scenes that city life can never offer. The Bai Dinh pagoda area is another treasure of the province, with a complex of the pagoda, park, car parking area, and lake system; it is so much easier for visitors to go here. But the most famous place here is the Phat Diem stone church, which is the only stone church in the North of Vietnam, built by the French in the past, merely with stones placed on each other, without any stick material.
China.
Continue to visit Bich Dong pagoda. Visit the ancient capital of Hoa Lu with temples of the Dinh and Le dynasties.

Day 6
HALONG BAY – HANOIHalong Bay is a beautiful natural wonder in northern Vietnam near the Chinese border. The Bay is dotted with 1,600 limestone islands and islets and covers an area of over 1,500 sq km. This extraordinary area was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. For many tourists, this place is like something right out of a movie. The fact is that Halong Bay features a wide range of biodiversity, while the surrealistic scenery has indeed featured in endless movies. The best way to get to Halong City is by car, minibus, or bus from Hanoi which is only 170km away. If budget is not a problem, an hour-long helicopter transfer is also available.
In the morning, continue your sightseeing and cruise around the peaceful bay. Enjoy an early lunch before disembarkation and transfer back to Ha Noi.
Note: The cruise itinerary might change slightly, depending on the cruise company and weather conditions.
Check-in hotel in Hanoi.
Day 7
HANOI – HUEAfter breakfast, your driver will meet you at the hotel and transfer you to the airport for the flight to Hue.
Hue, the old capital of Vietnam has plenty of wonderful places to visit. The first place is the Imperial City, with many gates of the fortress, including the famous forbidden Gate of the Noon (Ngo Mon), and many temples and worship places (Trieu Mieu, Hung Mieu, Thai Mieu) inside the City. Moreover, the Purple Forbidden City is the home to many emperors, queens, and royal families of the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th century. Another notable place is the complex of the tomb of Nguyen emperors, including the Gia Long Tomb, Tu Duc Tomb, Minh Mang Tomb, Dong Khanh Tomb, and Khai Dinh Tomb. Nevertheless, the Thien Mu pagoda is a hot spot in Hue, like the One-pillar pagoda in Hanoi. Visiting Hue is synonymous with finding the way back to old times.
Your guide and driver will meet you at Hue airport and take a boat trip on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu pagoda, Imperial City, and King Tu Duc’s tomb.
Stroll around the central Dong Ba market at the end of the day, if time permits.

At some stops at the garden houses hiding after the evergreen hedges, you can listen to the echo of the past, through the stories of the hosts. The nostalgic architecture of the garden houses, the family atmosphere, the delicacies, and especially Hue etiquette will open up a cultural space, in which you will truly perceive Hue’s art of living. Your experience will be more memorable when you are cycling on the paths lined with vegetables, flowers, and rice fields on both sides, promising moments of utmost peace.

Day 9
HUE – DANANG – HOI ANAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel and drive to Danang via the scenic Hai Van Pass (Pass of the Ocean Clouds), enjoying spectacular views of the sky and the sea.
Visit the Cham Museum before proceeding to Hoi An.
Hoi An is Formerly an important trading port in Indochina during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Hoi An still retains much of its Asian authentic architecture as well as its nostalgic ambiance. On this UNESCO World Heritage Site still stands various constructions of different Asian cultures, among which the Japanese Pagoda Bridge and Chinese Phuc Kien Assembly Hall are the most outstanding. Hoi An’s handicrafts and tailor-ship are renowned worldwide. Aside from all of these sightseeing and shopping experiences, the rural area surrounding Hoi An is ideal for bicycle, beach, and boat-cruise trips.
Take a walking tour to discover the historic town that used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to 18th centuries. Visit the Hoi An market. Tan Ky Old House is an almost perfect example of an 18th merchant’s residence in this major commercial port town. The name Tan Ky, meaning “Progress Shop”, was given to the house by the second generation to express the owner’s wish for a prosperous business. In spite of the decline in business of the town and the huge devastation of annual floods, seven generations of the family have continuously striven to keep the house in good condition. Therefore, although it’s not the oldest, Tan Ky is the most well-preserved in Hoi An.

Throughout this experience, you will have plenty of opportunities to interact with locals and share your experiences with them. Seafood lunch included.
Return to your hotel in Hoian.
Day 11
HOI AN – DANANG – NHA TRANGAfter breakfast, your driver will meet you at the hotel and drive to Danang and transfer you to the airport for the flight to Nha Trang.
Nha Trang, being the home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, has its name known to the world.
Upon arrival, visit Po Nagar Cham Towers; a sacred Hindu site dating back to the 2nd century AD.
Po Nagar Cham Tower, commonly known as Thap Ba, is a complex of temples erected approximately before 781 A.D
Historically, Cham is an ancient civilization that was really influential in Southeast Asia, especially in Vietnam and Cambodia. The Cham ruled Vietnam for 10 centuries, and their unmistakable architecture and art style had spread widely across places in the country. They are said to have their root in India’s Buddhism. Thus, there is a great deal of similarity between Angkor Wat and the Po Nagar Towers found in Nha Trang.
The tower was built between the 7th and 12th centuries and is still used today as a place of pilgrimage by Cham and Vietnamese Buddhists.
The annual Thap Ba Festival is held from 21st to 23rd Mar of the Lunar Calendar (approximately the end of Apr and the beginning of May) when a lot of Cham people’s traditional activities are operated and people from all parts of the country will gather to honor their Goddess.

Day 12
NHA TRANG – DALATAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel. We leave Nha Trang for Dalat, a cool mountain resort.
Endowed with all-year-round temperate weather, romantic pine tree forests, awe-inspiring flower fields, French boulevards, and villas from the colonial period, Da Lat has long been touted as the City of Love and Eternal Spring. Da Lat’s distinctive mild climate along with misty weather constitutes a sense of ethereal beauty, making this small city the ideal destination for escaping vacations, away from the busy metropolises. On the natural side, Langbiang Mountain, Xuan Huong Lake, Doi Thong Hai Mo, and Valley of Love top the list. On the cultural and historical side, Bao Dai Summer Palace, Domaine de Marie Church, and Truc Lam Monastery are the treasures that hold the rich history and culture of Da Lat and the region.
Upon arrival in Dalat, visit the Summer Palace of Emperor Bao Dai. The palace was built from 1933 to 1937, under the dynasty of King Bao Dai, the last king of Vietnam's feudal court. The palace was designed in the art deco style and lies in the middle of a pine forest near the Pasteur Institute. In the past, this villa was constructed as a retreating place for King Bao Dai and his royal family to escape the summer heat, but after 1950, when the French colonial came back to Vietnam, the palace occupied a role as the office and house of the king. Today, tourists can find it on Trieu Viet Vuong St.
Xuan Huong Lake.
At the very heart of Dalat city lies Xuan Huong Lake. It used to be the site that many indigenous people of Langbian highland inhabited. This man-made lake is nowadays the most beautiful lake in Dalat, giving the city the invaluable gift of having a lake right in the center.
The old colonial-style train station. The history of the railway dated back to 1932, when its plan was finally carried out by two French architects named Monet and Reveron, under the acceptance of Paul Doumer – the French Governor-General of Indochina from 1897 to 1902. Finally, the construction was completed 6 years later, after several difficulties such as the last stretch, traversing Lam Vien Plateau. However, it has been largely unused since the abandonment of the railway (due to the attack), during the later years of the Vietnam War. In 1991, 7km of the track between Dalat and Trai Mat was reconstructed and launched into operation for tourists.
Being part of the French colonists’ plan to turn Dalat into a paradise in Indochina, the 1500m-above-sea-level railway is now located at 1 Quang Trung St.
Pay a visit to “Crazy house” a Unique architectural design, as the intention of the architect is to make a fairy tale house, the “crazy house” resembles a tree with uneven windows, tunnel-shaped stairways, etc. Both the exterior and the interior of the guesthouse are created and decorated with twisting organic forms and very few right angles. The hollow “tree” extends in many directions, rising above to reach the sky of the amazing Dalat. Walking along the cave-shape hallways inside the house is not simply a visit, but an exhilarating experience, a departure from the norm; wild mushrooms and spider webs popping up on your way is not unusual. Besides, the guesthouse is really a spectacular construction with ten themed guest rooms such as the tiger room, the eagle room, the ant room, and the kangaroo room, with decorations and handcrafted furniture matching the theme. According to Viet Nga, each room has its own meaning: the tiger room refers to the Chinese; the eagle room describes the Americans; and the ant room represents the Vietnamese, etc.
Even though it is theoretically a hotel, the Hang Nga Guesthouse is today regarded as a “museum” of the dream, childhood, abnormality, etc. Everyone has their own interpretation of the house, as well as their own experience, but all of them agree on one thing: the guesthouse is so pure and natural that they were once again lost in their childhood dream. If interested in a local, take on surrealist architecture.

Ho Chi Minh City is the flagship city of Vietnam in terms of economic development and international exposure. Ho Chi Minh City is a truly happening city. The central area of District 1 is imposing with its high-rise buildings, shopping centers as well as other entertainments such as restaurants, café shops, and bars. China Town in District 5 is a contrasting destination with colorful lanterns and exotic Chinese shop-houses that date back at least 40 years ago. Historical heritages such as Dinh Thong Nhat and Bao Tang Cach Mang Vietnam will let you step into the epic history of Gia Dinh or Sai Gon. Furthermore, Ho Chi Minh City boasts of its diverse flavorful cuisine as good foods from all regions concentrate here. Day 14
HO CHI MINH CITY TOURAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel and start the city tour including :
History Museum (closed on Mondays, if Day 13 falls on a Monday, this site may be replaced by another), built-in 1929 by the Société des Études Indochinoises, this notable Sino-French museum houses a rewarding collection of artifacts, illustrating the evolution of the cultures of Vietnam, from the Bronze Age Dong Son civilization (which emerged in 2000 BC), and the Funan civilization (1st to 6th centuries AD), to the Cham, Khmer, and Vietnamese. The museum is just inside the main gate to the city’s botanic gardens and the zoo.
Highlights include valuable relics taken from Cambodia’s Angkor Wat; a fine collection of Buddha statues; the perfectly preserved mummy of a local woman who died in 1869, excavated from Xom Cai in District 5; and some exquisite stylized mother-of-pearl Chinese characters, inlaid into panels.
Former Presidential Palace A witness of history. Reunification Palace’s architecture is a blend of traditional ritual and modern architecture, typical of the 60s’. However, the design of the complex is not as appealing to tourists as all the historical events related to this building. Wandering around its rooms, visitors may be reminded of various important moments in the past of Vietnam, especially the war command room with its huge maps and old communication equipment, as well as the basement labyrinth. The building now functions as a museum, where visitors can view the F5E fighter plane, which bombed the palace on 8th April 1975, and tank 843 which led the final assault through the palace gate at 11.30 AM on 30th April 1975.
Since its construction, the building has gone through several renovations. Major work was undertaken from 1962 to 1963, which made the President change his office temporarily to Gia Long Palace, which is now the location of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum. Much political turbulence led to the come and go of several South Vietnam presidents, until 1975, when the war officially ended and Vietnam became one country.
Central Post Office is one of the oldest buildings in Ho Chi Minh City and was built around 1886 – 1891, based on a Villedieu, a famous French architect. Being a mixture of Gothic, Renaissance, and French influences, this building fascinates tourists with its typical colonial French features, from exterior to interior decorations. For the first time, visitors may feel that they’re brought back to the 20th-century railway station in Europe, rather than a post office in an Asian country. From its ornate furnishings and gorgeous pattern-tiled floor to its massively high ceilings and numerous wickets, all speak of another place in time. The interior design is even more elegant with the phone booths, which are just the same since the colonial period. Walking inside, the first things you notice are the two maps: Saigonet environs, 1892 describing Ho Chi Minh City in the past, and Lignes télégraphiques du Sud Vietnamese du Cambodge, which is the postal route from Vietnam to Cambodia. The building inside is big and airy with a lot of space. The ceiling was designed with an arc shape which was carried by the two rows of steel pillars. This makes the building look grander and more stable. Also, the building looks just perfectly in harmony with the outside, considering its arched windows, creatively designed, with engaged piers, green window shutters, and the main entrance with intricate ironwork.
Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral has located in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. Constructed between 1863 and 1880 by the French colonists, following their conquest of the city, the building reaches a height of up to 60m. Bishop Lefevre put the first stone for the construction of the church on 28 March 1863. Initially, it was called Saigon Church. The name Notre-Dame Cathedral was given after Bishop Pham Van Thien held a ceremony to install the statue of Peaceful Notre Dame, made with granite from Rome, in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican anointed it as Saigon Chief Cathedral and conferred it Basilique. Since this time, this cathedral has been called Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica.
In the afternoon, visit Thien Hau temple, Chinatown, and Binh Tay market.
Return to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh.
Day 15
HO CHI MINH CITY - TAY NINH / CU CHI TUNNELSAfter breakfast, your guide, and driver will meet you at the hotel and drive to Tay Ninh, to visit the center of Cao-Daism, a religion that combines Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism, and Confucianism. Tay Ninh is a southern province, famous for its Ba Den mountain area (meaning: Lady Black), with many other mountains like Pig mountain (Nui Heo), Phoenix Mountain (Nui Phung), and a variety of caves throughout the mountains, such as a Thanh Long Cave, Ong Ho Cave, Ba Co Cave, Ba Tuan Cave, etc. This complex can really fit into a good photograph-taking trip or simply a camping trip. Another area is Dau Tieng Lake, with a smooth surface considered as a border of the province. Cao Dai temple is also a famous place in this province, although Cao Dai is not a popular religion.
Lunch en route. Continue to Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing complex of underground tunnels, used during the Vietnam War. The Chu Chi Tunnels are part of a massive war museum in Ho Chi Minh. They offer visitors a sneak-peek at the underground life of Vietnamese soldiers back in 1948. The site has over 120km of underground tunnels, with trap doors, living areas, kitchens, storage facilities, armory, hospitals, and command centers. After the war against the French, Vietnamese soldiers expanded the tunnels and included effective air filtration systems, which helped them survive the Chu Chi carpet bombings.
Return to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh.
*Alternative program: Coach trip to Ben Tre,
A day in Ben Tre will be a day when you are no longer a tourist, but a true resident embarking on a sensory voyage of discovery. Enjoy observing how bricks and grass mats are made with age-old traditional techniques, as well as how products are extracted from coconut. Admire stunning panoramic countryside pictures made of green coconut palms, yellow river streams, and colorful local products. Feel the warmth of the tropical breeze and the coolness of water currents, whilst exploring the earthy trails. Taste and smell local exotic fruits, and “garden-made” cuisine or stop to observe and satisfy your palate with just-made wet rice paper or coco candies, married with green tea. Complete your experience listening to the sounds of boats, tricycle motor engines, and certainly the banter and laughter of local people, modest yet hospitable.
