Beijing - Great Wall GubeikouAfter early breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Beijing and leave in the early morning for the Great Wall at Gubeikou. Gubeikou was a vital mountain pass that dates back to the 16th century. With 14 beacon towers, 143 watchtowers, 16 strategic passes, the majority of wall-building led by noted general Xuda in 1378 during the Ming dynasty. Divided into four parts: Wohushan, Panlongshan, Jinshanling, and Simatai. The famous Gubeikou Great Wall stretches for more than 40km (25 miles).
Today’s hiking will start from Wohushan Great Wall, which is 665 meters above sea level. It's built in the Ming dynasty with a full length of 13.6 kilometers, which contains a great many watchtowers. Wohushan Great Wall becomes a masterpiece in the history of building Great Walls for its long history, ingenious distribution, steepness, and complete facilities.

Day 3
Gubeikou – JinshanlingEnjoy breakfast at your hotel to gear up for today’s hike to Jinshanling. As you hike along with your guide, you will see lush vegetation and learn how this part of the wall has crumbled because in the 1950s local farmers took bricks from the wall to build their houses. Pass by a local village and walk around the inner circle of the wall, which was the second defense in case the main wall breached. Continue walking until the late afternoon. Today, you will hike 7.5 miles (12km) for a total of 4-5 hours and will rest for 3-4 hours to take in the views and have lunch. Then you will come to a guesthouse in a village called the Erdaoliang Jinshanling area for accommodation.

Day 4
Jinshanling – Simatai – BeijingAfter breakfast, follow your expert guide to Simatai to experience both original and restored sections of the wall. You will hike for 7 miles (11km) on the mostly paved ground, and there are a few stretches of unrestored pathways with stairs and steep gradients.
After the hike, head to a local farmer’s restaurant to have lunch. Meet and chat with the farmers over a home-cooked Chinese meal and learn the surrounding community development. We will back to downtown Beijing in the late afternoon, and visit the Temple of Heaven. The Temple of Heaven is an imperial complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest. It has been regarded as a Taoist temple, although Chinese heaven worship, especially by the reigning monarch of the day, predates Taoism.

The Yulong Snow Mount to the north-west is the source of the rivers and springs which water the plain and supply the Black Dragon Pool, from where the waterways feed into a network of canals and channels to provide the town. The Old Town of Lijiang comprises three parts: Dayan Old Town, Baisha and Shuhe housing clusters. After lunch, we will take an orientation walk of this fantastic old town.

Lijiang – Tiger Leaping GorgeAfter early breakfast, your driver will meet you at your hotel and transfer to Qiaotou, the starting point for our trek through the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Gingerly stepping along a trail swept with scree to allow an old fellow with a donkey to pass; resting atop a rock, exhausted, looking up to see the fading sunlight dance between snow-shrouded peaks, then down to see the lingering rays dancing on the rippling waters a thousand meters away; feeling utterly exhilarated. That pretty much sums up Tiger Leaping Gorge, the unmissable trek of southwest China.

Enjoy a picnic lunch on the way, the beautiful ‘danxia’ landscape will make a nice backdrop for a picnic. In the evening, transfer to the Shaxi Old Town for overnight.
Check-in to your hotel in Shaxi.
Day 13
ShaxiAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Shazi and start to explore Shaxi Old Town. Shaxi Old Town used to be an important stop on the old Tea Horse Trail. You can still find the Yi and Bai ethnic minorities maintaining their traditions. It is also a perfect place to get lost in the narrow, cobblestone alleyways, get a close look at intricately carved wooden entrances and hopefully catch glimpses of the well-fenced and attractive courtyards of many of the homes in Shaxi. Siding Square forms the center of the old town, which was formed as part of the Tea Horse route during the Tang dynasty in 618. The Shaxi is UNESCO listed as it is one of the most intact tea horse trading towns left remaining in China.

Its popularity turns the surrounding area into a large pedestrian area that hosts an array of shops, restaurants, tea houses, as well as annual temple fair events. Yuyuan Garden, also called Yu Garden, was originally built in 1559, opened to the public in 1961 and a declared monument in 1982. It is the most extensive ancient garden with Ming and Qing architectural styles.
