Day by day Itinerary
Day 1
BeijingYour guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel located in the city center. You will have a 6 pm group meeting at your hotel, and there will be more information about the meeting when you arrive at the hotel. Please look for a note in the hotel lobby or ask at reception. Your group meeting will include details about your trip, followed by an orientation walk and included dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2
BeijingAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Beijing. Today, we’ll explore famous sights in Beijing. There will be a lot of walking today. We will take the metro to Tiananmen Square, one of the world's largest public squares, home to the Monument of the People's Heroes and the Great hall of the People. Then enter the Forbidden City, built from 1406 to 1420, a ceremonial and political center of the Chinese government for more than 500 years. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987 and is listed by UNESCO as the most extensive collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world. After the Forbidden City, we will stroll in the alleys formed by lines of traditional courtyards known by Hutong and experience the local lifestyle of Old Beijing.
Day 3
BeijingAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Beijing. This morning will be going to visit the Great Wall - Mutianyu Section (approx. 2hrs), one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall with 22 towers winding along the mountain ridges. Spend quality time exploring and learning the history of the Great Wall of China as well as enjoy the view at Huairou county, the suburban area of Beijing. The great idea is to bring a picnic lunch with you to enjoy at the top of the wall during a rest break. We will back to downtown Beijing in the late afternoon, then transfer to Beijing railway station and board the overnight train to Xian.

Day 4
Xi’anYour guide and driver will meet you at the train station and transfer to the hotel. Today, we will visit the Terracotta Warriors. You’ll learn all about this incredible archaeological find, discovered in 1976 by farmers digging a well, after being buried for 2,000 years. Three main pits are open for you to view, where just under 2,000 of the total 6,000 warriors – each individually sculpted from clay, each having a different costume, height, and even facial expressions – stand in battle formation. The scale is incredibly impressive. After the tour, we will enjoy lunch in a local village. This afternoon we will visit one of the best-preserved old residences in Xi’an dating back 400 years. The courtyard was once home to seven generations of the Gao family – notable officials of the royal court. To get a taste of traditional local lifestyle through period furniture, pottery, porcelain, and paintings. Then we will take a walk around the Muslim quarter, lively markets, and Bell & Drum Tower.

Day 5
Xi’an - LhasaAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Xi'an and we will visit the ancient City Wall, the most significant and best-preserved wall extant in China now, running over 13 kilometers around Xian. Then private transfer to the airport takes a flight to Lhasa, the capital city of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. Lhasa is one of the highest cities in the world with an altitude of 3490 meters. Upon arrival, private bus transfer (approx. 1hr) to the hotel, you will pass through the Lhasa River Valley on the way to the city center. This afternoon, we will take an orientation walk around the Barkhor Square area and start acclimatizing to the altitude.

Day 6
LhasaAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Lhasa. Enjoy a tour of Potala Palace, a magnificent structure and true architectural wonder built in the 1600s and steeped in history. Potala Palace is where the Dalai Lamas would meditate, handle affairs of state, and eventually where their burial stupas remain. Check out the golden statues, three-dimensional mandalas, ancient scriptures, and the devoted pilgrims who circle the palace day and night. It is indeed a remarkable place. Then visit Jokhang Temple at Barkhor Square. Jokhang Temple founded in 647 by King Songtsen Gampo (r.617-49), the first ruler of a unified Tibet, and his two foreign wives who credited with bringing Buddhism to Tibet. This temple was constructed to house a sacred image of the Buddha, the Jowo Rinpoche, which Queen Wengcheng brought with her from China as a dowry. It is still enshrined in the temple and is the holiest object in Tibet. Finally, we will visit the Sera Monastery to see Monk's debation in the courtyard.

Day 7
Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - LhasaAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel and then we will visit Yamdrok Lake. We will drive along the zigzagged road to Kamba-la Pass and pass by the Yarlung Tsangpo River. It is the longest river in Tibet, and the famed Brahmaputra River in India sits at an elevation of 15,518 feet (4,730 meters). Yamdrok Lake is also known as Yamdrok Yumtso or Yamzho Yumco. It is a freshwater lake in Tibet; it is one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. It is over 72 km long. The lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and is fed by numerous small streams. The lake has an outlet stream at its far western end and means turquoise in English due to its color. In the late afternoon, we will drive back to Lhasa city.

Day 8
Lhasa - ChengduAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel and transfer to the airport and take a flight to Chengdu. Upon arrival, your guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to the downtown area to visit Jinli Street. This street is famous for its historic atmosphere, bustling businesses and most of all its local snacks. Enjoy sticky rice cakes with sesame sauce, spicy chicken on a stick, sweet rice jelly, fried beef pancakes and, for the more adventurous, seasoned rabbit heads. After that, go to Kuanzhai Alley. Kuanzhai Alley, also known as “Wide and Narrow Alley,” consists of three historic paralleled alleys from the Qing dynasty.

Day 9
Chengdu-ChongqingAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel and we will be going to visit the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, where you're able to witness the conservation efforts being made to save this endearing endangered species. There are only around 1,000 pandas left in the world, and 80% of them found in the mountains in Sichuan. The pandas have over 600 acres of parkland to live in, and you can get up close and learn more about these majestic creatures. Watch them play, eat bamboo, napping, and munching bamboo. Then transfer to Chengdu train station and take the bullet train to Chongqing. Upon arrival, your guide and driver will meet you at the train station and transfer to the pier and board a deluxe Yangtze Cruise.

Day 10
Yangtze RiverAfter breakfast, your guide will meet you at Yangtze deluxe Cruise. Take an early morning stretch from a Tai Chi class and get prepared for another day full of energy and excitement for an excursion to Fengdu Ghost City. It is a large complex of shrines, temples, and monasteries dedicated to the afterlife located on the Ming mountain in Fengdu County. The Ghost City focuses on the afterlife and combines of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. After lunch, visit Shibaozhai, a rocky and craggy hill about 200 meters high with really steep sides and a red pavilion on the riverside. The red pavilion with nine floors, standing on top of the hill, is one of the largest wooden temples in China. In the evening, enjoy a dynasties culture show by Chinese minorities.

Day 11
Yangtze RiverAfter breakfast, your guide will meet you at Yangtze deluxe Cruise. Today, the cruise will sail through the Qutang Gorge and the Wu Gorge, two of the Three Gorges of Yangtze River, which classifies well-known for their scenery classified as the highest level of the Chinese National Tourism Administration. Take an excursion to the Shennv valley (the Goddess Stream), where you will have a breathtaking view of thousands of cliffs hanging in the sky; hundreds of meters blue peaks and a slight line opened among groups of rocks blocking the sky. You will understand why it is named this. In the evening, enjoy the captain’s farewell banquet.

Day 12
Yangtze River - ShanghaiAfter breakfast, your guide will meet you at Yangtze deluxe Cruise. We are here in Huang Ling Miao. We will be visiting the Three Gorges Dam, the most significant hydroelectric project in the world completed in 2009. The Three Gorges Project brings benefits in all aspects of flood control, power generation, tourism, ecological protection, South-North water transfer -and irrigation. It also had a world record in 2014 for an enormous amount of power generated. Our Yangtze river journey will end here at Yichang Pier. Your driver will meet you at the Yichang Pier and transfer to Yichang train station for an overnight soft-sleeper (first-class) train to Xi'an.

ShanghaiAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel. Today, we will visit the City God’s Temple, a folk temple neighboring Yuyuan Garden. The City God Temple in Shanghai originated as the Jinshan God Temple, dedicated to the spirit of Jinshan, or "Gold Mountain," an island off the coast of Shanghai. It was converted into a City God Temple in 1403, during the Yongle era of the Ming dynasty. Its popularity turns the surrounding area into a large pedestrian area that hosts an array of shops, restaurants, tea houses, as well as annual temple fair events. Yuyuan Garden, also called Yu Garden, was originally built in 1559, opened to the public in 1961 and a declared monument in 1982. It is the most extensive ancient garden with Ming and Qing architectural styles. After spending some time in the temple area, you will explore - Shanghai French Concession, a concession area from 1849 till 1943. In almost one century, it develops its distinct character with a cultural mixture of Chinese and European, also one of the Catholic centers in China.
