Day by day Itinerary
Day 1
DOWN THE MEKONG RIVER BY KAYAK (L) Low water season, February to July:
Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Luang Prabang and transfer you with kayaks to a boat launch on the southern edge of Luang Prabang city. After a brief safety review, you’ll begin kayaking down a section of the river infrequently visited by tourists.
We'll kayak for about 3-4 hours easy paddling through rolling mountains covered with jungle, and we’ll stop along the way to take lunch on the riverbanks.
Millions of people make their living in the Mekong River basin, and you’ll witness for yourself the varied activities of the lives on the river. The kayaking will conclude at a riverside village that you may explore with your guide.
On our return drive to Luang Prabang, we’ll visit a locally made Hmong Museum where you’ll explore the rich culture and life of the Hmong ethnic group.
Kayaking is 18 km (11 mi) easy kayaking.
Return to your hotel in Luang Prabang.
NOTE: This tour is not sold during the high water season (August - February) as currents can be too strong and conditions unpredictable.
