Day by day Itinerary
Day 1
YANGONYour guide and driver of Adventure Asia will meet you at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
Your journey begins with an afternoon tour through Yangon’s colonial-style city center. Visit SULE PAGODA, dating back over 2,000 years; the magnificent reclining Buddha CHAUK HTAT GYI; and after a photo stop at the KARAWEIK HALL, a ’hamsa-bird-shaped’ barge on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake, stroll through the BOGYOKE (SCOTTS) MARKET (closed on Mondays and on public holidays), a compound of hundreds of food, garment, handicraft, and gem stores.
Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant.
Complete your Yangon impressions with an extended visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA.
Guests arriving by morning or mid-day flight will follow the above-mentioned program. However, if you arrive in the afternoon, you will be directly transferred to your hotel and Yangon sightseeing will be provided on the last day.

Day 2
YANGON-BAGANAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel and you will be transferred to the airport for a domestic flight to BAGAN. Upon arrival, start your day by visiting the most significant pagodas and temples of Bagan, including SHWEZIGON PAGODA, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; KU BYANUK GYI, noted for its panoramic view of the area’s numerous monuments and ANANDA TEMPLE, with four standing Buddha images.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, in the afternoon, learn of manufacturing Myanmar’s most treasured handicrafts and visit a lacquerware craftsman's workshop in nearby MYINKABA village. Later continue to MANUHA TEMPLE, built in Mon style in 1059 and explore the NANBAYA TEMPLE, a unique sandstone monument which according to legends used to be the palace site of the King Manuha. Visit ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM (closed on Mondays and public holidays) housing countless beautiful Buddha images made of bronze, stone, and lacquer. Complete the day by watching the sunset over the majestic Ayeyarwaddy River from a temple top. Dinner at a riverside restaurant.

BAGANAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel. We will visit the TAYOKEPYAY TEMPLE in Min Nan Thu Village; PHAYA THONE ZU and NANDAMANYA TEMPLES, noted for their exquisite murals of the 13th century and KYAT KAN CAVE monastery, a famous meditation retreat in Bagan.
In the afternoon, an excursion to farming villages around Bagan will give you an insight into the rural life of the local people. Late afternoon, a colorfully decorated oxcart will take you through some of the more off the beaten track temple sites. Experience the traditional way of traveling and transportation still commonly used by the rural people of Myanmar.

Day 4
BAGAN – AMARAPURA – AVA – SAGAING - MANDALAYAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel and transfer to Bagan airport for a domestic flight to MANDALAY. Upon arrival at Mandalay, continue directly for an excursion to AMARAPURA 15 km from Mandalay. Visit en-route, MAHAGANDAYON MONASTERY where more than a thousand monks live and study. Time permitting, you will have the opportunity to observe the monks having their last meal of the day in total silence. Continue to 200-year-old U BEIN teak bridge, built-in 1782 during the era when Amarapura was the Royal capital. Already from the early days, the city was known for its silk- and cotton weaving. Visit a traditional handwoven silk workshop before proceeding to BAGAYA MONASTERY, a compound with a superb collection of Buddha statues.
After lunch at a local restaurant, embark for a short boat ride over a river and start exploring the former Royal Capital INWA (AVA) by horse cart. Visit NANMYINT WATCH TOWER, the remains of the ancient palace building, also know as “the leaning tower of Ava“; MAHA AUNGMYE BONZAN MONASTERY, built of brick and stucco; BARGAYAR MONASTERY, famous for its impressive ornate woodcarvings and teak posts then continue to SAGAING HILLS, a retreat for Buddhist devotees for sunset.

Upon arrival, proceed by road to PINDAYA (59 km – 2 hours) and visit PINDAYA CAVES, a unique site housing thousands of Buddha images placed there by pilgrims and devotees over the centuries.
After lunch, drive to NYAUNG SHWE (90 km – 2 ½ - 3 hours) and transfer to your hotel on the lake by boat.

Day 6
HEHO – YANGONAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel and depart for an excursion by boat on the Inle Lake. See the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing, village life and magnificent scenery.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant on the lake. Visits are made to the PHAUNGDAW OO PAGODA; the weaving village of INPAWKHON and to one of the local markets in the lake region. (Note: on market days only). In the afternoon transfer to HEHO airport (32km – 1 hour) for a domestic flight to YANGON. Upon arrival at Yangon, your guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 7
YANGON – CHIANG MAIAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel. Complete your Yangon impressions with a visit to the KABA AYE (WORLD PEACE) PAGODA. Proceed to Yangon's oldest Chinese temple and at the riverside located BOTATAUNG PAGODA. Last but not least, see the 8 meters high Golden Lion Throne as well as the Mandalay Royal Regalia at the NATIONAL MUSEUM (closed on Mondays and Public holidays).
After lunch, transfer to the Yangon Airport for flight to CHIANG MAI. Upon arrival, proceed to visit WAT DOI SUTHEP, tucked away in the mountains at 3,520 feet (1,056 meters). The temple is reached by a staircase with 290 steps, flanked by a Naga balustrade on either side. The Monastery was built by King Gue-Na in 1383. In the center, there is a large Chedi (aspired pagoda) containing Buddhist relics.
For evening entertainment, enjoy a typical Thai Kantoke dinner (19.30-22.30), with traditional dance performances and songs of Northern Thailand hill tribes.

Here, you will find beautiful flowers, local foods, and products as well as get a chance to enjoy the day to day life that has changed little throughout the years. Afterward, take a TRICYCLE or SAMLOR ride through the city, then hopping on a MOTORIZED BOAT and CRUISE on Mae Ping River, observing the way of life along the river.

Proceed by pick-up truck to visit the MEO HILL TRIBE VILLAGE at NONG HOI MAI and continue to BAN MEO MAE KI. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the village and its surroundings. B.B.Q. dinner and campfire at the Hmong Hill Tribe Lodge followed by a Meo dance performance.

Day 9
CHIANG MAI – MAE SALONG– CHIANG RAIAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel and depart for FANG and THATORN via CHIANG DAO. Enjoy refreshments and take a stroll through the local market. Visit HUAY LUEK, a Meo hill tribe village after arrival to Thatorn, a small village just a few kilometers away from the Burmese border.
After enjoying your lunch at the Mae Kok River Village Resort, continue the trip to DOI MAE SALONG, passing through beautiful mountain scenery. Mae Salong lies 1800 meters above the sea level and famous for its tea plantations. There are Chinese temples, ethnic tribes living in the area, and plenty of open-air bazaars offering Chinese specialties such as tea and locally grown preserved fruits.

MAE SALONG – GOLDEN TRIANGLE– CHIANG SAENAfter breakfast, your guide and driver will meet your hotel and depart for DOI TUNG, visit the Mae Fah Luang Botanic Garden and Royal Villa which was called ‘Home at Doi Thung’. The Royal Villa was built with HRH Princess Srinagarindra's private funds; she considered it her first real home in Thailand. Then, proceed to Mae Sai, the northernmost Thai town on the Myanmar border. Walk around the local market with opportunities for shopping.
After lunch in Mae Sai, continue to the GOLDEN TRIANGLE AREA on the MEKONG RIVER where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos convene. Take a short boat trip around the Golden Triangle.

The boat leaves Houei Say pier at 09:00 hrs for a cruise down the Mekong to PAK BENG. En-route one-stop is made to observe rural life along the Mekong and discover minorities, a buffet lunch on board. Arrive at Pak Beng before sunset. Dinner on the terrace, overlooking the Mekong River.

(Optional: walk to Pakbeng market, where people from the surrounding village of minorities exchange their goods). At 08:00 am, board the boat for the second leg of the cruise. A short stop to discover a Hmong village before having buffet lunch on board. Continue to PAK OU VILLAGE in the mouth of the NAM OU RIVER; visit TAM TING "Caves of a thousand Buddha's". On the way to LUANG PRABANG, a brief stop is made to observe the traditional process of obtaining local rice alcohol.

LUANG PRABANG – WATCH TAGBAT – LUANG PRABANG VISITEarly in the morning , the monks’ rounds, early in the morning. It is a ritual that is truly part of Lao people’s life and offers a memorable experience and great snapshots. Your guide will explain how to follow the strict customs and rules involved and visit the fresh local market. Return to your hotel for breakfast.
Full day visit of the old city in the electric tuk-tuk. After a small orientation tour of the city, proceed to Vat Xieng Thong at the tip of the peninsula. The oldest and most beautiful temple of the UNESCO World heritage town dates back from the 16th century. The roof sweep low to the ground and glass colored panels adorn the walls of the chapels. Take a walk in the old city and visit Vat Sene, the perfect place to meditate. Finish the morning with a visit to the ethnic museum TAEC.

Upon arrival in Vientiane, your guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to the local restaurant for your lunchtime. In the afternoon, we will visit the highlights of Vientiane: Vat Sisaket, the oldest temple in Vientiane with its mural paintings, visit Vat Ho Prakeo, the royal temple turned into a Buddhist museum. Visit Talat Sao to buy some Lao textiles and basketry as souvenirs. Proceed to That Luang Stupa, the most revered shrine in Laos and pass by Patouxay (Victory Monument). Take a short walk in the center of That Dam passing Nam Phou square and ending to the bank of the Mekong at sunset. Dinner, at Amphoe Restaurant.
